Tang 2-15 Tyrrellspass 1-14

Tang played their second match in division 1 against Tyrrellspass in Tyrrellspass on Sunday afternoon. On a crisp March day, the grounds were ideal for a good football match and this was indeed what was offered up by both sides. Tang started the brighter and were three pts to the good before Tyrrellspass opened their acc with a pt. Tang's duo up front, Martin Rock and Aidan Burke were causing all sorts of problems for the Tyrrellspass's defence with Tang leading 6pts to 4. Tang were desperately unlucky not to score a goal when Matrin Rock took a quick free( after being pulled down on the 21m) to Aidan Burke who returned to Martin only to see the crossbar become Tyrrellspass's savoiur. Tang were to regret this miss when Denis Glennon stole behind the Tang radar to finish to the net and put Tyrrellspass a pt up. However this was short lived as Tang replied with a brace of pts before a excellent Tang attack resulted in Dean Reddin finding himself one on one with the Tyrrellspass keeper. Dean made no mistake and crashed the ball to the top corner of the net. So Tang took a deserved 1-10 to 1-6 at the interval.

Tyrrellspass started the second with all guns blazing and Tang found themselves on the back-pedal. Tang's defence held firm with capt Robert English leading by example and with John Rock and Conor Marlow on song, Tyrrellspass were unable to eat into Tang's four pt lead. Tang's midfield of Trevor English and Niall Bannon who won a lot of breaking ball saw Tang forwards seeing more ball resulting in Tang extending their lead 2-15 to 1-10. Aidan Burke slotted the ball to the net after terrific work by Martin Rock.

Tang did indeed have a lucky escape in the second half when goalie Michael Galvin was beaten but John Rock sweeping across the line cleared the danger and Tang worked the ball down field to score a good pt. Tyrrellspass however did not give up and scored the next four pts with Tang happy to sit back and invite Tyrrellspass on to them. Tang will be happy with this performance and have now secured full pts from two games. Apart from forementioned Tang had excellent performers from Christopher McCann, Alan Murray and Sean Coughlan, Dean Reddin and Sean Egan when introduced in second half and Alan Higgins.
