Tang 3-14 Milltown 1-7
Tang travelled to Cusack Park for 3rd of Intermediate championship with last years junior champions Milltown providing the oppostion. Both teams came into this game with two wins under their belts and so a stiff test was expected. The match was nip and tuck for the first few mins with Milltown having a lot of possession but were making no headway into a stiff breeze or into a strong Tang defence.. Both teams scored a pt before an attempted point from Martin Rock dropped short and big Joe Conlon broke the ball onto an in rushing Aidan Burke who coolly slotted to the back of the net. Aidan soon followed with a neat point off his left foot. This rocked Milltown and Tang through Martin Rock added a brace of points to further extend the lead. Mins later Milltown keeper brought off a point blank save from Martin Rock after an excellent delivery from Conor Marlow. However Milltown;s reprieve was short lived as another high delivery from Robert English was prounced on by the alert Joe Conlon who flicked the ball over the despairing Milltown keeper. Tang were dominant now and went for the jugular with Martin Rock, Aidan Burke,John Rock, Joe Conlon and Willie Flanagan all adding points to take an interval break of 2-11 to 0-3.
Milltown had an uphill battle in the second half and found scores hard to come by and indeed Tang breached the Milltown defence again with Robert English driving from midfield and nice inter play between Robert and the Rock twins resulting in John having the simplest task of palming the ball into the net. Tang added further pts through Martin Rock, Conor Marlow and Aidan Burke. Tang will be happy to have full pts at this stage while Milltown will go back to the drawing board. Best for Tang were Kieran Duncan who was superb at full back with Dean Reddin and Sean Egan able assisants. John Rock marshalled the half back line with Conor Marlow getting forward at every opportunity. Robert English was excellent at midfield as was Nialll Bannon. Up front Martin Rock and Aidan Burke was always dangerous but the day belonged to the ever green Joe Conlon who finished with a respectable 1 -2 and made another goal. This will surely be on the speeches next weekend when Joe's wedding. We wish Joe and Ann-Marie a lovely wedding and long life and happiness .
