Maryland/Tang 4-10 Rochfortbridge 1-8
Maryland/Tang played Rochfortbridge on Sunday last in the third round of the minor league. Maryland/Tang started the brighter opening their scoring with a well taken goal. Darragh Burke added another pt but Rochfortbridge replied with three pts before James Ganley stretched the lead with a neat pt. However Rochfortbridge were pressing hard and had a good patch scoring a fine goal and adding two pts. Maryland/Tang responded well to this and finished the half with two Martin Rock pts to leave the game on a knife edge 1-5 apiece at the interval.
Despite playing into the breeze Rochfortbridge pushed further ahead with two pts and Maryland/Tang had to defend stoutly with John Rock doing Trojan work with Kenny Egan also to the fore. Two further pts from Martin Rock drew the game before James Ganley put Maryland/Tang in front with ten mins left after Ryan Allen was fouled. Rochfortbridge were attacking but good defending from Billy Elliot broke up an attack and a sweeping movement involving Owen Coughlan and with Martin Rock releasing the inrushing Bryan Donohue who finished superbly to the corner of the net. James Ganley kicked another pt. Maryland/Tang were on top now and really punished Rochfortbridge with Martin Rock netting twice before Emmet Moran sealed the victory with a well taken pt. This was a tough match and although Maryland/Tang weren’t firing on all cylinders, their greater experience paid big benefits in the closing quarter of the match.

Maryland/Tang 4-9 Tyrrellspass 1-6
A greatly under strength Maryland/Tang played Tyrrellspass on Sunday last in the second round of the minor League. Playing into a stiff breeze Maryland/Tang took the match to Tyrrellspass and were soon rewarded when Emmet Moran’s shot dipped into the top corner of the net for the opening score. Martin Rock added a further 1-1 before Ryan Allen chipped the goalie to leave Maryland/Tang leading 3-1 to 0-1. Maryland/Tang defence were holding firm and limiting Tyrrellspass to shooting from afar with Aaron Elliot, Darragh Mc Cormack and Paul O Neill defending stoutly. Maryland/Tang were well on top with the Rock brothers, John and Martin in fine form and Christy Hermbusche winning a lot of ball around the middle.
Tyrrellspass did start the second half in determined fashion but were unable to make inroads against a Maryland/Tang defence where Billy Elliot, Kenny Egan and Darren Allen were excellent. Maryland/Tang picked off four pts through Martin Rock and Darragh Burke. Tyrrellspass were then handed a lifeline with a very harshly awarded penalty in the 45th minute and converted.
Maryland/Tang reeled off further pts through John Rock, Peter Cunningham and Martin Rock and ran out worthy winners at the final whistle. This was a tough encounter and a great team performance from a understrength Maryland/Tang .

Maryland/Tang 5-14 Garrycastle 3-10
Maryland/Tang played Garrycastle in the first round of the Minor League under lights in Garrycastle. Maryland/Tang started the game brightly and really took the game to Garrycastle and had the better of exchanges taking a deserved 1-10 to 1-2 lead into the break.
The second half saw a determined Garrycastle reel off four pts in a row to narrow the gap. Further pressure from Garrycastle saw more scores to reduce the lead to a point. This seem to awaken Maryland/Tang from their slumber and soon added two goals and two pts to once again pull away.
Maryland/Tang ran out worthy winners with two further goals to leave the full-time score 5-14 to 3-10. This was an entertaining match with both teams playing some attractive football and kicking some fine scores. Maryland/Tang had a big panel on the night with everyone playing their part and hopefully look forward to a good year ahead.
