Tang 1-09 Castledaly 1-11
Tang travelled to Castledaly on Sunday morning last for the fifth round of Div1 ACL. On a pleasant spring morning, Tang started brightly kicking two fine points from Conor Marlow and Adam Neary. Castledaly replied with two neat pts. Tang then breached the Castledaly defence when Aidan Burke found Martin Rock in space, who laid off to an inrushing Niall Bannon, Niall passed to the lively Adam Neary who drilled a low shot to the back of the net for a well taken goal. The match was nip and tuck from then until half-time. Tang added two pts from Aidan Burke and led 1-4 to 0-6 at the interval.
Tang played with a slight breeze in the second and stretched their lead with two well taken pts from Aidan Burke. Castledaly were raiding constantly but were guilty of kicking some bad wides, indeed as were Tang in the first half.
With ten mins left, Tang held a three pt lead, however Castledaly upped the ante and slowly pegged Tang back to level the match. Castledaly then got the crucial score when Tang’s keeper Michael Galvin bought off a fine save but the rebound fell kindly for Castledaly and the loose ball was poked to the net. Adam Neary replied with a pt but Castledaly held on for an important victory. This was a big performance improvement from Tang’s recent outings and hopefully more improvement will follow.
