Westmeath lost out to Kildare in the O'Byrne Cup semi-final on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-8. Kildare's greater strenght and experience told in the last ten minutes when they kicked four pts to pull away and ensure victory. Local man Robert English gave a good account of himself in the full back berth and this should auger well for forthcoming league matches.
