Tang 1-13 Shandonagh 1-11
T ang played Shandonagh in the second round of Intermediate Championship on Saturday last in Rosemount on a glorious summer day. Shandonagh started the game brightly pinning Tang back in their half. Shandonagh opened the scoring but Tang replied with two pts from Martin Rock and Aidan Burke. Shandonagh had a period of dominance and rattled over a couple of pts. Darragh Burke then slotted a pt after a neat pass from William Flanagan. Further pts from Martin Rock and Aidan Burke saw Tang take the lead but This was short lived when Shandonagh found the Tang net with a speculative shot. John Rock added a neat pt to leave Tang trailing 1-6 to 0-8 at the interval after playing into the incline.
Tang upped the tempo in the second half and took the game by the scruff of the neck. Shandonagh found it difficult to get the ball up the field and were limited to a pt. Tang stretched to lead to six pts when Robert English latched onto a centre from Fergus Farrell and shot superbly to the net. With the match entering injury time Shandonagh threw everyone forward hoping to salvage sometime, They did kick three pts but Tang were worthy winners on the Day. Kieran Duncan was immense at full back with Dean Reddin coming to the fore in the second half. Niall Bannon, John Rock and Sean Egan were a very solid half back line. The English brothers were very strong in midfield and Aidan Burke and Martin Rock a constant threat up front ably assisted by Darragh Burke and Connor Marlow.
