The girls from Drumraney/Tang were Westmeath's first ever national winners when they came through a very tough semi-final against Ballinamore, Leitrim. The final against shelin, Cavan was a nail biting affair. The first quarter was even with 2pts a piece. Sheelin enjoyed a good second quarter leading 4pts to 2 although Drumraney/Tang were guilty of bad shooting. Drumraney/Tang had a great third quarter leveling the match at 5pts each. the last quarter was extremely close with both sides having chances but defences held firm and at the final whistle the score remained 5pts each. So to extra time and Drumraney/Tang scored first in the first period and with four mins to go Sheelin tried to find an equaliser but it was not to be as their valient effort just drifted wide of the post. The final whistle sounded and Drumraney/Tang's supporters swamped the pitch to salute their heros. A terrific day for the parish and congratulations to the girls, trainers, mentors and sponsers.
