Tang 1-11 Ballynacargy 0-7

Tang played Ballynacargy in the last round of the Intermediate championship in Cusack Park with the winners guaranteed to progress to the play off stages. Tang played into the breeze in the first half and made most of the running with Robert English and Niall Bannon both winning vital possession in the midfield sector. However Tang had a lucky escape after five mins when Jamie Loran defected a cross only to see the upright come to Tang’s rescue.

Tang, with the lions share of possession extended their lead to 5pts to three through the boot of Aidan Burke and had Ballynacargy on the cosh. Tang did kick a couple of bad wides and were guilty of dropping shots in to the goalie’s hands but then Niall Bannon found a gap in Ballynacargy’s defence and drilled a low shot into the corner of the net and leave Tang in the commanding position of 1-6 to 0-3 at half time.

Ballynacargy started the second half meaning business kicking two pts in as many mins. Tang soon replied with pts from Aidan Burke and Martin Rock. Ballynacargy’s challenge petered out with Tang’s defence well on top with John Rock, Kieran Duncan, Sean Egan and Conor Marlow in superb form. Tang added some nice pts from Trevor English, Aidan Burke and John Rock ending an excellent move to score a beauty of a pt. This was a strong performance from the Tang team who now await their quarter-final opponents.
