Tang v Kinnegad Div1
Post date: Feb 12, 2017 12:20:57 PM
Tang 0-6 Kinnegad 0-8
Tang played Kinnegad in Kinnegad on Saturday evening last at 7.30 in the first round of All County League. It was a bitterly cold night and very blustery. Kinnegad played with the wind on their backs in the first half and soon drew first blood with a neatly taken point. Tang levelled with a Martin Rock after a foul on Joe Conlon. Another fine movement by Tang saw Adam Neary kick an excellent pt from play into the teeth of the swirling breeze. Kinnegad drew level and had a period of supremacy with Tang defending stoutly. Kinnegad added three more pts but fine defending from Tang kept their goal intact with goalie Killian Fox making a couple of timely blocks. Tang trailed 5pts to 2 at the interval.
Tang started the second half in a flourish with Adam Neary again kicking a splendid pt from play and Martin Rock was unlucky to see his shot rise over the crossbar when he latched on to a break down from Joe Conlon. Martin added a pt from a free to level matters at 5pt each. Tang were well on top now but were guilty of kicking three close frees wide at this stage. Kinnegad weathered the storm and kicked two pts to stretch their level. Adam Neary added a pt but Kinnegad replied with another and although Tang did get the ball into the Kinnegad net, it was disallowed for an infringement. Kinnegad held on to secure two league pts as Tang’s challenge faded but Tang may regret their many wasted chances. Best for Tang were Dean Reddin, Alan Murray and Sean Egan in defence, Robert English and Darragh Burke won their share at midfield, while up front Adam Neary, Martin Rock and Niall Bannon were the pick of the forwards.
