Maryland/Tang 0-10 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-3

Maryland/Tang played their second match in the u-21 championship against recently crowned Mullingar Shamrocks senior Westmeath Champions. With underfoot conditions heavy, this match was not going to be high scoring and so it turned out with Maryland/Tang taking a 4pts to 1pt lead at the interval. Maryland/Tang looked comfortable, containing Mullingar Shamrock's attack to just a pt whilst Calum Mc Cormack, Martin Rock and Fergus Farrell all kicked scores for Maryland/Tang.

On the resumption Mullingar Shamrocks attacked a lot more but were unable to muster a white flag and two quick pts from a surging midfielder Fergus Farrell stretched the lead further and left Mullingar Shamrocks with an uphill battle. Mullingar Shamrocks pressed forward but unable to reduce the lead any further than a comfortable four pts.

Calum Mc Cormack kicked a sublime pt from near the sideline and Enda Kincaid was unlucky not to hit the net when his shot sailed over the bar as was Martin Rock who crashed the liathroid into the side netting. Maryland/Tang now move on to the next round after a competent display but will have lots to work on in the coming weeks.
