Tang 2-12 Ballynacargy 3-6
Tang kicked off their 2014 season with an intermediate Cup match against Ballynacargy. This match was switched to Tang due to inclement weather. Tang played into a stiff breeze in the first half but make a brighter start with Martin Rock finding the back of the net after a long ball from the boot of Aidan burke found Martin Rock sneaking under the Ballynacargy radar. However on the next attack Tang’s goalie was picking the ball from the net after Bal were awarded a penalty. The match was nip and tuck up until the interval with Niall Bannon bagging another goal for Tang and Bal replied with a goal of their own. The score at halftime saw Tang lead 2-4 to 2-2.
Bal’s team talk appeared to work as they brought the match to Tang tacking on a couple of points. Tang kept their scoreboard ticking over but midway through the second half, found themselves trailing by two pts when Bal scored their third goal. Tang dug deep and added five pts through Trevor English, Aidan burke and John Rock and a brace from Willie Flanagan. Tang will be pleased to open their season with a victory and Tang’s new manager Eamon Mahon will now look forward to next weeks clash with Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall.
