Tang 1-12 Castledaly 0-7
Tang played Castledaly in the second round of the u-21 championship on Saturday last. The match was switched to Tang with a half two kickoff. However with the preceding Div 2 minor final between Ballyinacargy and Tubberclair ending in a dramatic draw after extra time our match was late kicking off. Castledaly started off well playing into the dressing room end and soon opened up a 3-1 lead but this was soon cancelled as Dean Reddin and Martin Rock landed pts to level .
Both teams traded pts but a strong finish to the half saw Dean Reddin and Martin Rock add three pts between them to open up a 0-7 to 0-4 lead at the break but Tang can thank Martin Donoghue for his excellent save when he advanced quickly to block a certain goal from the boot of Lorcan Dolan.
Any thoughts of Tang having it easy in the second half were soon squashed when Castledaly laid siege on Tang's goal and had Tang on the defensive for the first ten or twelve mins but Tang limited them to far out shooting . Castledaly did reduce the lead to a single pt but this was as good as it got for Castledaly as Tang took over in the centre of the park with Trevor English, Sean Egan and John Rock leading the way. From the twentieth min Tang hit a purple patch kicking 1-3 without reply in a four min spell to copper-fast this victory with Trevor scoring the all important goal and now secure a semi-final spot. This was a good performance from all over the team but the amount of scoring chances squandered may be a worry later on. Team M.Donoghue, J. Rock, C.Connor, A.Elliot, C. McCann, S.Coughlan, S,Egan (Capt), D, Reddin, T.English, D.Burke, P.O.Neill, M.Rock, W.Flanagan, O.Coughlan.
